First Tears

Source: Map027 (Tears Room 1)

Event

The event does not trigger if you have the Star Crest already. On a first loop, you're forced to see it, as Siffrin refuses to pick up the Star Crest without seeing the Tears first.

Siffrin walks ahead of the group. The kid runs up and bumps into their backside. The researcher follows.

(Ah...)

The housemaiden walks up as well.

(You've seen this before.)

Siffrin turns to the right.

  • First time: (You watch your step.)
  • Subsequent times: (You get ready.)

The fighter runs up.

Fighter (happy1) Alright let's gooooooooo--

The fighter screeches to a halt and jumps. The researcher turns toward him.

(You catch the big guy before he goes too far.)

Housemaiden (awkward2) Oh!

First time

Kid (uwah1) Huh?

The fighter looks at Siffrin, while the researcher looks at the Tears.

Fighter (embarassed4) WAH! Wh-what? What is it???

He looks at the Tears.

Fighter (surprised1) Is it the water? Should I not touch the weird floating water???

Siffrin looks at the Tears.

Researcher (oof1) ...Wait. This is...

Researcher (worried3) ........

The researcher picks a small rock off the ground. She flicks the rock at the wall of Tears. It lands with a bzzt. The rock has remains midair, right where it touched the Tears. It's also turned lighter.

Kid (surprised1) Oh!

Housemaiden (awkward2) OH!!!

The fighter jumps.

Fighter (embarassed4) OH!!! THE ROCK FROZE WHEN IT TOUCHED THE WATER!!!

Researcher (wondering1) Oh, indeed.

Researcher (angry1) Do NOT approach those. We'd probably get stuck in time just like everything else...

Fighter (wondering2) It wouldn't hurt too much though, right?

Researcher (reading up1) What, being frozen in time?

Researcher (reading1) Theoretically, it wouldn't, no.

Fighter (surprised2) ...Theoretically?

Researcher (smile1) Yes, theoretically. Why, would you care to try it out?

Kid (neutral2) I've heard that being frozen makes you go to sleep, and gives you a super good dream!

Housemaiden (smile3) Oh?

Fighter (wondering1) Oh???

Researcher (wondering2) Oh... Where did you hear that from?

The housemaiden, the fighter, and the researcher all turn to the kid one by one as they speak.

Kid (ew2) Ah, um...

Kid (sad2) Um... A nice lady told me that when my sister got frozen...

The housemaiden and the fighter both sweat.

Fighter (ohfuck2) OH!

Housemaiden (awkward2) OH!!!

Researcher (oof1) Oh...

The kid jumps thrice, as though stomping their feet.

Kid (angry1) I-I know it's not true!!! I'm not stupid!!!

Kid (sad1) Just... It would be nice... if that was true.

Kid (sad1) So...

Kid (sad1) ...

Kid (phew1) So you should touch the weird frozen water and be frozen and let me know how it goes!!!

Fighter (embarassed4) Pass...

(You let the conversation go on without you.)

(You know that while being frozen in time doesn't hurt, it doesn't bring you a wonderful dream either.)

(It's just like  missing a stair step and being stuck in midair, forever.)

(Almost restful, in a way.)

Housemaiden (wondering1) Well, there must be a way to make this water disappear somehow... Let's look around a bit more.

Second Time

(Eh, he'll be fine now.)

(One more loop, one more close call.)

(You couldn't catch him in time, once. It was before you started making sure the housemaiden knew how to make someone's time move again.

There was nothing any of you could do.)

(You had to leave him behind.)

(His face, frozen in eternal surprise...)

(If you slept still, the sight would haunt your dreams.)

(But you try to only repeat your last few hours, so. Small mercies.)

Housemaiden (worried1) --must be a way to make them disappear somehow... Let's look around a bit more.

Third time onwards

(He's fine, he's fine, he's doing fine.)

(You look at the floating tears for the required amount of time.)

Housemaiden (worried1) --must be a way to make them disappear somehow... Let's look around a bit more.

Row of Tears

Without the Star Crest

(You're already tired.)

(Take a nap?)

  • Yep.

    (One more step.)

Fighter (embarassed1) Sif? What are y--

    (You raise your hand.)

You are frozen in time and get a game over.

  • No...

    (You'll die soon enough anyway.)

With the Star Crest

(Use the STAR CREST to clear the way?)

  • Yes

    (You used the STAR CREST.)

(You throw the crest into the tears, then watch them all melt away...)

The Tears vanish in a flash of light.

If you skipped the event this loop

Researcher (wondering2) Oh, that thing you found...?

Kid (excited1) The thing you found made the weird water go away!!!

Researcher (wondering1) Probably a good thing... I don't want to know what would've happened if we touched those.

    You got one Weird Point.

  • No

Siffrin walks away from the row of Tears.

Other

There's a ghost on the path to the right. It doesn't say anything, though.

It only appears from the second loop onwards, when the True End becomes possible.
