ACT 3 Intro

Meadow

Waking up in the meadow after talking to the Head Housemaiden for the first time.

(You're back.)

Mirabelle --frin!

Mirabelle enters the scene from the north, stopping just above Siffrin.

Mirabelle Siffrin!

Mirabelle ...Siffrin?

Mirabelle (happy2) Good morning!

Mirabelle (awkward1) Well, more like, good afternoon, I guess...

Mirabelle (happy1) Were you taking a nap? That's just like... ...

Mirabelle (anxious3) Siffrin, what's wrong?

(You can't breathe.)

(You won, didn't you? Why are you back? WHY ARE YOU BACK?!)

Mirabelle (sad1) Siffrin, answer me, what's wrong?

(Your hands are shaking)

(Your stomach is killing you)

(The whole Universe is closing in on you)

(You're back to the start)

(You're back here)

(You're back here you're back here you're back here you're back here you're back here you're back here you're back here you're back here you're back here your journey was over and you're  back  here)

(Your journey was over, wasn't it!!!! You won, didn't you!!! You all survived, right!!!! And yet!!!! AND YET, YOU'RE--!!!!!!)

(YOU TRY BREATHING IN BUT YOU CAN'T BREATHE- YOU CAN'T BREATHE--)

Mirabelle (yell1) SIFFRIN!!!

Siffrin (what2) (AH!)

Siffrin (what2) Mira...

Mirabelle (anxious3) Oh, Siffrin, finally you answered! What's wrong, what happened?

Mirabelle (sad1) You weren't answering me...

Mirabelle (sad1) And you're so pale...!

(Slowly,  gently,  she touches your cheek.)

(You still flinch.)

Mirabelle (uwah!1) Ah, s-sorry!!!

Mirabelle (sad1) I'm sorry... ...

Mirabelle (wonder1) Did you...  have a nightmare?

Siffrin (hide4) (...) ...

Siffrin (hide5) Yes, that's exactly it.

Mirabelle (sad1) Oh no... It must've been a horrible nightmare...

Mirabelle (gentle1) But you're awake now.

Mirabelle (wonder1) ...Do you want to talk about it?

Siffrin (hide6) I...

Siffrin (hide3) ...

Siffrin (hide3) I... I was crying...

Mirabelle (anxious3) Crying...? Why?

Siffrin (hide3) ...because...

Siffrin (hide3)

Siffrin (fake1) ...I was making onion quiche.

Mirabelle (wonder1) ...

Mirabelle (awkward2) ...Um, why would making onion quiche make you--

Siffrin (fake4) I was cutting a lot of onions!

Mirabelle (uwah!1) SIFFRIN!!!

Mirabelle (angry1) SIFFRIN, YOU CRAB!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE I WAS WORRIED!!!

(You laugh in a very convincing way.)

Mirabelle (hmf1) Hmf! I'm glad at least your nightmare wasn't that bad, but... Hmf!

Mirabelle (hmf1) Hmf!

Mirabelle (awkward2) ...Okay, well...

Mirabelle (stressed1) I'll be waiting in the village, alright? Come talk to me later!!!

(With Mirabelle gone, your smile drops.)

(You're  back.)

(Why are you back...? You beat the King, didn't you? Did something go wrong?)

(It was the end of your journey, and yet you...)

(The Head Housemaiden... She said something about the world being rotten?)

(. . .)

(You should go see Loop.)

(They're the only one you can talk to... They might... know what's going on...)

Mirabelle

Mirabelle (anxious3) Siffrin... You're up...

Mirabelle (anxious1) I'm, uh, I'm sorry I woke you up earlier. I know you joked about it, but are you feeling better now? I'm worried...

(...?)

Siffrin (fake1) (Well, this is new...) "Yes, don't worry about me!"

Mirabelle (awkward1b) Ah... Okay, but...

Siffrin (fake1) (You really have to talk to Loop right now...) "I have things to do, I'll talk to you later!"

Mirabelle (stressed1) Huh?! Um, Siffrin, please wait!!!

(What now.)

Mirabelle (anxious2) ...Well, I know you're busy, but...

("But help me tell everyone about the sleepover"?)

Mirabelle (worried1) ...Can you come talk to me later? So we can talk? I'll wait in front of the library...

Mirabelle (stressed1) ...Please.

(Oh.)

Siffrin (n-nya2) (...) "Okay...?"

Mirabelle (stressed1) Okay! Go do your thing, and then come back, okay? I'll be waiting!

(You nod again.)

(Habit takes over, and you tell her about the CARROT method.)

Mirabelle (stressed1) W-Wait, how did you know about--

(...And wink.)

Mirabelle (worried1) O-Okay...

(Mirabelle learned the Craft Skill "Adorable Moving Shield" again.)

(...)

(You can't...)

(You can't talk to anyone right now.)

(You have to see... You have to ask Loop... What they think...)

Loop

(...)

(You ran here to talk to Loop, to try to figure out what to do, but...)

(You can't look at them right now.)

(You can't.)

Loop (serious2) ...

Loop (lol4) So?

Siffrin (hide4) (...) "...I beat the King."

Loop (lol5) You did?!? Oh, stars above, I'm so proud of you!!! You did it!!! You succeeded!!! You--

Siffrin (angry1) "And yet I'm still here."

Loop (well2) ...Yes.

Loop (happy1) Indeed you are.

(...They don't seem surprised.)

(They don't seem surprised at all, do they?)

Siffrin (angry3) "Did you know this would happen?"

Loop (hm1) ...

Loop (happy1) I had a feeling, yes.

(...)

Loop (well2) But it felt cruel to tell you, so I didn't.

Loop (well2) You looked so...

Loop (teehee5) So happy and innocent and stupid!!! I just didn't have the heart to tell you!!!

Loop (sad1) ...I just didn't have the heart to tell you.

Loop (serious2) I knew from the start that the loops wouldn't end after defeating the King.

Siffrin (angry1) "Why not...?"

Loop (happy1) I don't know why it didn't end with beating the King.

Loop (happy1) I just knew it wouldn't.

Siffrin (hide4) (...) "I..."

Siffrin (hide4) "I never thought about the reason why I got this power."

Siffrin (hide4) "I just thought... It was to beat the King."

Siffrin (hide4) "That the Change God, someone, anyone, gave me this power to beat him."

Siffrin (hide5) "But if beating him made me loop back anyway..."

Loop (serious2) ...

Siffrin (hide5) "I don't know what to do now."

Loop (serious2) ...

Loop (happy1) So will you give up, then?

Loop (happy1) You're stuck in this loop, stardust.

Loop (happy1) Beating the King brought you back here. You don't know why. You don't even know how you even got this power.

Loop (happy1) You don't know if there's even a way to escape.

Loop (well2) So... Because there's no clear way to escape...

Loop (serious2) Will you give up?

(Give up...?)

(...)

(No. You're fine, aren't you?)

(Right now, you're alive. Right now, you can think. Right now, your allies are still here. Right now, you're not alone.)

(There's no reason to give up now, just because you're trapped.)

(If you're trapped, find a door, and open it.)

(And, you still have some doors to open, don't you?)

Siffrin (angry2) "The Head Housemaiden seemed to know something was wrong, didn't she?"

Loop (hm1) Ah... I guess she did.

Loop (hm1) She said something about... Something being broken? Failing?

Siffrin (serious1) "Did she mean the loops?"

Loop (oh1) The loops, breaking?

Loop (well3) ...That's possible.

Loop (serious2) Maybe the loops WERE supposed to stop after beating the King, but something went wrong somehow.

(And that's something you can find out.)

(You just need to talk to her again. Find out what she knows.)

Siffrin (angry2) "And the King..."

Loop (oh1) The King?! What about him?

Siffrin (hide1) "Something about his powers..."

Siffrin (angry2) "He can freeze people's time. And I can rewind time."

Loop (hm1) ...Yes, that's...

Loop (hmmm1) Both powers ARE related to time, aren't they?

Loop (hm1) I don't think I've ever heard about anyone who could control time before...

Siffrin (angry2) "Isn't that something to find out more about?"

Loop (happy1) ...I suppose so?

Siffrin (hide1) "Maybe I just need to ask him."

Loop (oh my1) Ask the King?!?

Loop (ew1) Well, um, sure, I suppose that might work?

Loop (well2) Talking to the King himself... I do wonder what he'd have to say.

Loop (happy1) It's worth trying!

Loop (sad1) ...And, stardust...

Loop (happy2) I know you're not interested in talking to your party about the loops. If so...

Loop (lol1) You'll have to make sure to act so they don't find out anything is wrong.

Loop (lol5) And you already failed this loop by making your Housemaiden worried about you, teehee!

(Ah...)

(It's true. With the way you woke up, she's probably worried about you, even now...)

Loop (expressionnumber) She said she wanted to talk to you, didn't she? You should talk to her this loop, see what that's all about.

Loop (happy2) Add this to your brain list of things to do.

(There's quite a few things on it already.)

(Find out more about the King and his powers, to see if they're related to yours.)

(Talk to the Head Housemaiden, to see if she knows more about the loops.)

(Talk to Mirabelle this loop, see what's wrong. Might as well talk to everyone else after, too.)

(But see?)

(As long as you have paths you can follow... Questions to answer...Goals to strive for...)

(You'll be fine.)

(You're fine.)

Loop (serious2) ...

(...)

(But...)

(Why is Loop helping you?)

(They appeared after you looped for the first time... And said they were here to help.)

(And they knew about the loops. Knew this whole time beating the King wouldn't help.)

(And they picked that name, didn't they? "Loop"?)

(Aren't they... Related to the loops, too?)

Siffrin (serious1) "Loop..."

Loop (teehee1) Hm~?

Siffrin (hide1)

  • "Are you really here to help me?"

    Loop (sad2) Stardust...

    Loop (serious2) Yes.

Loop (serious2) If you can believe anything, believe that.

Loop (subdued1) I asked to be here, so I could help you.

    Siffrin (serious1) "Why?"

Siffrin (angry2) "Aren't you stuck here too, just because you're helping me?"

    Loop (well2) ...

Loop (fake1) I reiterate, stardust: I asked to be here.

Loop (teehee1) Don't worry about me. Being here is surprisingly restful!

Loop (teehee3) I'm here to help you any way I can, and I mean it!!!

    (...)

    (If they're offering their help...)

(It'd be stupid not to take it, isn't it?)

  • "Nothing."

(You don't really need to know, do you?)

(You don't want to start doubting them.)

(Loop said they're here to help you. That's all you need to know.)

Siffrin (hide1) "To answer your question, though..."

Loop (happy1) Hm?

Siffrin (angry2) "No, Loop."

Siffrin (angry3) "It's too early to give up."

Loop (well2) ...I'm very glad to hear that, stardust.

Loop (teehee3) Please don't give up, stardust!!! If the loops started, they can end!!!

Loop (lol6) It's just basic logic. I can guarantee that you won't be stuck here forever.

Loop (lol5) It's a Loop Guarantee!!!

Loop (teehee3) And as always, you can count on me to help you!

Loop (teehee3) If you need a refresher, or help figuring out where to go, I'll be here!

Loop (lol5) I'm here to help, stardust!!!

(You smile.)

Siffrin (hide1)

  • "...Thank you, Loop."

    Loop (lol4) GROSS!!!!!

Loop (well2) It's my pleasure, stardust.

  • (Ew, no.)

    Loop (teehee4) ...

    Loop (lol4) Teehee, well...

Loop (happy3) In the meantime...

Loop (teehee3) How can I help you on this wonderful new loop, stardust?

Advancing the quest

At this point, there are several things you need to accomplish first to progress.

Whichever you do last advances Loopquest.

After reading the Time Craft book

Plays when reading the Craftonomy book, if you've already talked to the Head Housemaiden.

(But what if it isn't enough? What if he doesn't want to tell you anything about Time Craft?)

(You've talked to the King, and the Head Housemaiden... Are those really the only two people that would know anything about the loops you're stuck in?)

(Who else could you talk to about the loops? To theorize?)

(. . .)

(Oh, wait.)

(There is ONE person.)

After talking to the Head Housemaiden

Plays when waking up in the meadow, if you've already read the Time Craft book.

(...)

(The Head Housemaiden said the exact same thing.)

(Time looped again.)

(You're back here.)

(She... She really repeated the exact same thing, huh?)

(Usually, when you react differently, everyone reacts differently as well, but she...)

(It was like you weren't here.)

(Why...?)

(...)

(What now?)

(You've now talked to the King and the Head Housemaiden... Are those really the only two people that would know a ing about the loops you're stuck in?)

(Who else could you talk to about the loops? To theorize?)

(. . .)

(Oh, wait.)

(There is ONE person.)

(You needed to go and talk to them anyway, so...)

Loop Hangout

Full page: Loop Hangout

Loop asks to hang out

Siffrin (serious1) "So."

Loop (hm1) Sooooooo?

Siffrin (um2) "Got any theories about the loops I'm trapped in?"

Loop (happy1) Why would I?

Siffrin (um2) "Your name is LITERALLY 'Loop'."

Loop (hm1) ...

Loop (teehee4) Oh, stars above, it is! Teehee!

(URGH.)

Loop (lol4) But just because I call myself "Loop" doesn't mean I know anything! I'm just bad at names!!!

Loop (happy1) But I'll see what I can do. What's your question?

Siffrin (neutral3) "Do you know anything that could help?"

Loop (teehee5) Such a broad question, stardust!

Loop (hmmm1) As I've told you before... I know as much as you do, right now.

Siffrin (serious1) "How can that be?"

Loop (oh my1) What do you mean?

Siffrin (serious1) "Aren't you here to help me?"

Siffrin (shit1) "Why don't you know more about the loops you're supposed to help me with...?"

Loop (oh my1) ...

Loop (teehee2) Tee--

Siffrin (um2) "Don't you 'Teehee' me."

Loop (teehee1) Awwwwwwwww.

Loop (hm1) I still don't have a good answer for you, stardust!

Loop (happy1) Isn't it already nice that you have me to talk to about those loops?

Loop (lol5) You could be alone, stuck with only your tiny brain for company, with no one to talk to!

Siffrin (serious1) "..."

Loop (hm1) Okay, okay, okay...

Loop (hm1) Well...

Loop (teehee2) Why don't we summarize what we know about those loops? We might find something out!

(You sigh, and nod.)

(Nothing better to do, you suppose.)

Loop (hm1) Soooooo...

Loop (happy2) You're currently stuck in a time loop, for some unknown reason.

Loop (hm1) The loop starts when you wake up in Dormont, and seems to end when you talk to the Head Housemaiden...

Siffrin (neutral1) "Unless I die first, or touch a Tear."

Loop (hm1) Yes... Maybe the loop considers getting frozen in time by those Tears a sort of death?

Loop (hm1) But why aren't you looping back when you get frozen in battle...?

Siffrin (surprised1) (Huh? Isn't it because...) "I thought the Tears worked differently than an actual time freeze skill."

Loop (hm1) Is that so? ...Well, you're the one getting frozen, so you'd know...

Loop (hmmm1) So, you loop if something keeps you from advancing in some way...

Loop (hm1) ...

Loop (sad1) I wonder if other things would count as "keeping you from advancing".

Siffrin (surprised3) "Like what?"

Loop (hm1) Like...

Loop (lol3) What if we cut off your legs, would you immediately loop back? You can't "advance" if you have no legs, right?

Siffrin (um2) (Um...) "I'd rather not test that one."

Loop (fake1) Awww. But understandable.

(...)

(But it is interesting, though.)

(What makes the loop actually loop?)

If you've gotten Bonnie to yell at Siffrin

(You feel like... You can remember a few times when time looped back on its own, even if it was just a few minutes...)

Loop (sad1) Maybe... Does the loop consider talking to the Head Housemaiden... Something that keeps you from advancing, somehow?

(Oh...)

(Maybe, but...)

(What would "advancing" even mean, then?)

(Towards what goal?)

(Is there something that happens when you talk to the Head Housemaiden that makes a certain goal impossible to accomplish?)

(...)

Loop (sad2) ...

Loop (well3) As you've found out, all of this might be the work of Time Craft, a power that should be impossible to use...

Loop (subdued1) But you and the King are somehow able to manipulate it.

Siffrin (hide1) (But...) "Am I manipulating Time Craft if I can't control it?"

Loop (happy1) But you can, can't you?

Loop (happy2) You can more or less control where you come back. Except when you talk to the Head Housemaiden, it seems, which brings you back to the start.

Loop (hmmm1) But just being able to loop back in time and avoid death might count as you being able to use Time Craft.

Siffrin (serious1) (But if Time Craft is supposed to be too dangerous to even use...) "How did I get that power?"

Loop (hm1) And how can you break the loop for good?

Loop (fake2) Yes, those are the big questions, aren't they?

Loop (well3) ... I do wonder about the limitations of your powers, still.

Loop (sad1) What makes you actually loop?

Loop (away1) Somehow, I feel like finding out more about that would be useful...

Loop (away1) ...

(...)

Loop (away1) ...

Loop (serious2) Stardust, we've been talking for a while, so maybe not right now, but...

Loop (serious2) When you have some time, will you hang out with me for a bit?

Siffrin (surprised1) (Huh?) "Hang out?"

Loop (away1) I have... A theory I'd like to test. And...

Loop (lol5) And we haven't spent any time together, stardust!!! I'm lonely!!! I want to have a long conversation with someone, anyone!!! I wanna hang ouuuuuut!!!

(Urgh.)

Loop (happy1) Again, it doesn't have to be right now.

Loop (happy2) Our little hang out time might last a while. Maybe even longer than the rest of the day.

Loop (teehee2) I'm sure you have plans for this loop, so I can wait until you have time!

Loop (happy1) ...Okay?

(A theory Loop would like to test about the loops...?)

(It might be useful.)

(You should talk to Loop and hang out with them when you have time, then.)

Loop (lol4) Yay!!! I'll be waiting, stardust!

Loop (teehee1) In the meantime...

Loop (teehee5) How can I help you on this wonderful new loop?

Asking Loop to hang out

Loop (happy1) Hey, stardust. How can I help you on this wonderful new loop?

  • ACT 3: Siffrin (neutral1) (...)
  • ACT 4: Siffrin (tired2) (...)

  • "We can hang out now."

    First time

    Loop (oh1) Oh...!

Loop (lol5) Our theory hangout! Yes!

Loop (hm1) But we can't actually hang out right now. It'd be pretty useless.

Loop (happy1) So how about you come back here early tomorrow, after you're done acting things out at the Clocktower?

Siffrin (surprised1) (Wait...) "You want me to sneak out?"

Loop (lol5) And spend a loop with me, yes!

    (But...)

(You always go to the House, after the Clocktower.)

(If you're not here, what will everyone do? What will everyone think--)

Loop (happy1) Does it matter what they think?

Loop (teehee1) They'll forget it all in your next loop, after all!

    Siffrin (hide1) (...)

    • "It matters!"

      Loop (hm1) Hm...

Loop (hmmm1) ...So you won't do it?

Loop (lol4) You won't come and hang out with little old me?

    • "...I guess it doesn't."

      Loop (teehee5) Neat!

Loop (happy1) Will you come, then?

    Siffrin (hide1)

    • "I'll come, yeah."

      Loop (teehee5) Neat!!!

Loop (happy1) ...I'll see you soon, then?

      (You nod.)

      This starts the Loop Hangout.

    • "No, I won't."

(You don't want everyone to go to the House without you.)

Loop (away1) ...So you won't come, huh...

      Loop (away1) . . .

Loop (serious2) I'd really like you to spend a loop with me, stardust.

Loop (serious2) It doesn't matter if it's right now, or in a dozen, a hundred loops...

Loop (lol3) You'll have to spend time with me eventually! Just let me know when you want to!!!

      Loop (subdued1) ...It's important.

      (You glare at Loop.)

      (. . .)

    Subsequent times

Only possible if you refused to hang out with Loop the first time.

Loop (happy1) ...Will you come and hang out with me now?

Siffrin (shit1) (It'll mean leaving everyone behind, but...)

    • "...Alright."

      Loop (lol5) Neat!!!

      Loop (happy1) ...Don't worry, stardust.

Loop (teehee4) ...I'll see you soon, then?

      (You nod.)

      This starts the Loop Hangout.

    • "No."

      Loop (lol3) Ouuugh, rejected again!!!

Loop (lol5) How dare you play with my feelings like this, stardust!!!

  • "Nah, nothing."

Loop (happy1) See you later, stardust.

    (They gently wave you goodbye.)

    ACT 3 only:

(You give them a nod, and walk away.)

Main Scene

(. . .)

(You spend the rest of the night with everyone...)

(Early in the morning, while everyone is still asleep, you quietly slip away and head to the Favor Tree...)

Siffrin approaches the Favor Tree.

(...But you can't see Loop anywhere.)

Loop Up there, stardust, up there!!!

("Up there"...?)

(Did Loop go back to their home or something?)

(You look up.)

(Loop is waving at you from the top of the tree.)

Loop I'm here, I'm here~!

Loop Come and join me, stardust!

(...How?)

Loop Oh, come on.

Loop Just climb the tree! I know you can do it!

(...)

(You sigh and climb the tree.)

Loop and Siffrin sit in the canopy of the Favor Tree. They gaze at the horizon, where the House looms large under a night sky.

Loop Aaaah...

Loop Isn't it pretty, stardust? We're so high up!

(You are.)

(You can see the House from there.)

(. . .)

(Everyone will be inside the House soon...)

(You try  not to think about it.)

Loop ...Thank you for coming to today's Loop hangout!

If you've completed Isabeau's Friendquest before

Loop If you hang out with me, it'll take some time, and...

Loop Well. You know how this goes.

Siffrin "I sure do."

Loop Hm.

Loop ...

Loop I, um. I haven't actually prepared anything to talk about.

Loop Soooooo...

Loop Tell me about yourself, stardust!

Siffrin (Really?) "I'd rather not."

Loop Huuuuuuuuh? Why noooooooot?

Siffrin "Don't you already know me?"

Loop Hm?

Siffrin "It just feels like it."

Siffrin "You know too much about me."

Siffrin "You knew my name, you know how I think..."

Siffrin "You knew me before we even met, didn't you?"

Loop . . .

Loop Kind of.

Siffrin (Kind of?) "Do I know you?"

Loop Oh! No, you don't know me, teehee.

Loop Don't worry, your memory isn't failing you, this time!

Loop When we met under the Favor Tree, that was... That was the very first time we've ever seen each other.

Siffrin (Is that so?) "So then..."

Siffrin "Is that why you're helping me?

Siffrin "Because you know me?"

Loop Oh.

Loop Not really.

Loop When I decided to help you...

Loop You were not a factor in the slightest.

Loop ...You are now, I suppose.

Loop But, does that mean you actually believe me? When I say I'm here to help?

Loop You don't think I'm lying, and I'm actually the one trapping you here, or whatever?

Loop You really believe that I'm here to help you...?

Siffrin (. . .)

  • "...I do."

    Loop Oh.

    Loop . . .

    Loop . . .

Loop You always surprise me, stardust.

Loop ...I know I wouldn't believe myself, if I was in your place.

Loop Maybe time has made me more jaded than you are...

  • "..."

    Loop . . .

    Loop Hahahahahaha!!!

Loop Yes, that's it! I knew it! You don't believe me at all!!!

Loop Hahaha... I don't mind, stardust.

Loop I wouldn't believe myself either, if I was in your place.

Loop But it's fine.

Loop Whether you believe me or not, I'm here to help you.

Loop So you can escape this loop.

Siffrin "So you believe it's possible?"

Siffrin "For me to escape?"

Loop ...Of course.

Loop Why would I be here, otherwise?

Loop I'm trapped here with you, after all.

Loop I want to escape just as much as you do.

Loop I know how it feels, you know.

Loop

Loop To be stuck somewhere... With no hope of escape...

Loop Forced to relive the exact same events over and over...

Loop Taking any deviation as a sign that things are finally going to change. That everything will be okay.

Loop And finding yourself trapped, still.

Loop Hahaha... Look at me, talking and talking!

Loop Don't pay attention to me. I'm doing fine.

(Loop laughs sadly, and looks at the House in the distance.)

(...)

Siffrin (. . .) "...Tell me about yourself, Loop."

Loop . . .

Loop I'd rather not, teehee!

(Loop winks and blows you a kiss.)

(Despite yourself, you laugh.)

(You hear Loop laugh softly, as well.)

Loop Hahaha...

Loop ...

Loop Say, stardust, that reminds me...

Loop only mentions one of these. They are sorted by priority, meaning that Loop mentions the first one that applies.

If Siffrin is at level 80+

Loop Are you at level 80 already? That is SUCH a high level! Do you like fighting that much?!

If you've looked at 100 or more barrels total

Loop Have you really looked at more than a hundred barrels?! Do you think barrels look that appealing to the eye? Do you have a crush on barrels?!

If you've gone fishing 15 or more times

Loop Have you really gone fishing more than fifteen times? Don't you have anything better to do?!

If you've received the Change God's blessing ten or more times

Loop Did you really ask for the Change God's blessing more than ten times? You know it's not your belief, right? Teehee!

If you've slipped on the banana peel ten or more times

Loop Did you really slip on that banana more than ten times?! Why is a banana peel even here, anyway?! It's a blinding tropical fruit!!!

If none of the above apply

Loop I can't believe your first death was being crushed by the very first trap!!! How embarrassing!!!

(Hey...)

(You and Loop animatedly talk about the different things you've done during your loops...)

(It's nice. To be able to talk about them with someone.)

(You talk and talk until the sun has risen high above you in the sky...)

Loop . . .

Loop Ah.

Loop It'll happen soon, now.

Siffrin (?) "What will?"

Loop ...

Loop The theory-crafting part of our hangout session, of course.

(...?)

(You open your mouth to ask, and then...)

There is a familiar roar.

Loop and Siffrin sit in the Favor Tree's canopy and gaze at the House. A bright star shaped light shines from its peak. Both Loop and Siffrin are now cast in shadow, which makes Loop's shine stand out all the more.

The sound of someone taking damage.

(NGH...!!!)

(You heard a horrible sound.)

(Your head...)

(You saw... Something.)

Loop I'm glad you decided to spend some time with me, stardust.

Loop Sorry it's going to end with this.

(What...?)

Loop I thought maybe it wouldn't happen, but...

Loop . . .

Loop See that light, in the distance?

Loop It's from the King's floor.

Loop I see it every time you get far enough to fight him.

Loop His first attack.

(The King's... First attack?)

(How long have you been talking to Loop?)

(Who was the King attacking?)

(Who was he...)

(...)

Loop ...

(The King doesn't attack, or do anything, until you get to him.)

(He would only attack if... If someone...)

Loop ...

Loop I can feel it, every time.

Loop Whatever he does, it makes you see something, doesn't it?

Loop Something awful.

Loop Something so terrible that it's enough to bring anyone close enough to their knees.

Loop ...

Loop Stars, I wonder who he attacked.

(. . .)

(You can't even hear Loop speak.)

(Your friends)

(They were against the King just now)

(You know how to survive his first attack, you found out, but)

(but)

(but)

(You hear someone cry out.)

(You look at Loop--)

Loop looks at Siffrin.

(Loop is just. Looking at you.)

(Not saying anything.)

(There's no pity in their gaze)

(No sadness)

(Just some slight impatience, like...)

("Did you figure it out yet?")

("Did you figure out what made the King attack just now?")

("There's only one answer, stardust.")

("Just figure it out already, so we can move on.")

("Who was the King fighting?")

("Who did the King just kill?")

("Did you figure it out yet?")

Loop . . .

Loop Did you?

(You start screaming.)

The sound of someone taking damage. The game over music plays.

(IT'S BECAUSE YOU WEREN'T THERE!!!!!!)

(THEY DIED, BECAUSE YOU WEREN'T THERE!!!)

(THEY'RE GONE, BECAUSE YOU WEREN'T!!! THERE!!!!!!)

(YOU CLUTCH YOUR HEAD, YOUR HAIR, YOUR STOMACH)

(BECAUSE YOU WEREN'T THERE)

(BECAUSE OF YOU, THEY'RE GONE)

(THEY'RE GONE)

(BECAUSE OF YOU BECAUSE OF YOU BECAUSE OF YOU BECAUSE OF YOU BECAUSE OF YOU BECAUSE OF YOU BECAUSE OF YOU BECAUSE OF YOU BECAUSE OF YOU BECAUSE OF YOU BECAUSE OF YOU BECAUSE OF YOU BECAUSE OF YOU BECAUSE OF Y

Siffrin loops back. They appear in front of the Favor Tree.

(You stumble, and fall to your knees.)

(You breathe, harshly, in, and out.)

(It's not working.)

(You can't  take  a full  breath)

(You can't)

(You hit the ground with your fist.)

Siffrin (angry4) "WHY?!?"

Loop (happy1) ...

(Loop does not answer.)

Siffrin (angry4) "DID YOU KNOW THIS WOULD HAPPEN?!?"

Loop (happy1) ...

Loop (lol5) Which part? You looping back, or your party dying?

Loop (happy1) I had a suspicion about the former.

Loop (fake1) I was certain about the latter.

Siffrin draws his dagger.

Siffrin (angry4) "YOU--"

Loop (serious2) . . .

(Loop is looking straight at you.)

(They don't even seem to care that you drew out your dagger.)

(Somehow, this calms you down.)

Loop (serious2) ...

Loop (serious2) If I tell you to breathe, will you?

(You)

(. . .)

Siffrin sheathes their dagger.

(You breathe slowly, in, and out.)

(...)

Loop (serious2) ...

Siffrin (angry3) (...) "What was that for."

Loop (lol5) For funsies, of course!

(You take a step forward--)

Loop (serious2) And because I was curious to know how the loops work.

Loop (serious2) Aren't you?

(How the loops work?)

(How could what just happened teach you anything about the loops?!)

Loop (happy1) Think, stardust.

Loop (happy1) Why did you loop back just now?

Siffrin (angry1) (Huh?) "Because the King won, isn't it?"

Loop (serious2) Why would the King winning make you loop?

Loop (happy1) You don't immediately loop back the second you and your party lose, don't you?

Siffrin (angry1) (Don't you?) "I kind of do, though."

Loop (serious2) No, stardust.

Loop (subdued1) You loop when you die.

Siffrin (surprised1) "I-- No, it takes a little bit--"

Loop (fake1) You loop when you die, stardust.

Loop (happy1) The fact that the King "wins" is irrelevant.

Loop (lol1) But you didn't die just now, did you?

Loop (serious2) So why did you loop?

Siffrin (what1) "But--"

Loop (subdued1) It's the same with the Head Housemaiden. You don't die when you talk to her, so what makes you loop?

Loop (subdued1) You loop when the Head Housemaiden talks to you, and you looped just now.

If you've finished Kingquest

Loop (away1) And when... When the Kid died, you looped back, too. Even though they're the one who died, not you.

Loop (serious2) Why?

Loop (serious2) Don't you think this would be important to figure out?

(. . .)

(Loop's right...)

(There have been other times you looped back without dying, too.)

(But... What could be the reason...?)

Loop (away1) ...

Loop (sad2) I wasn't lying when I said I wanted to spend time with you.

Loop (sad2) We never got the opportunity to really talk, after all.

Loop (fake1) But... Yes. I figured this would happen.

(...)

Loop (away1) ...I...

Loop (angry1) I won't say sorry, so you can stop waiting for it!!!

(You don't answer.)

Loop (away1) ...

ACT 3

Loop (away1) ...Well, it looks like that's all you can find out about the loops for now.

If you haven't reached the end with all Friendquests yet

Loop (happy1) But you can still help your party...

If you haven't completed Friendquest and Kingquest

Loop (happy2) And you still have questions to ask the King, don't you?

If you've completed Friendquest but not Kingquest

Loop (happy1) But you can still find out more about the King, can't you?

Loop (away1) I'll be ready to help you out next loop... But for now, I think we both need some time.

ACT 4

Loop (away1) ...I think you can find out more about the loops, if you search for it.

Loop (happy1) There might be some places you can go to, now that you can read those books in your language again...

Loop (away1) You should do that. I think we both need some time, before we can talk more.

Loop (teehee5) ...Come back next loop, stardust!

(You just walk away.)

Trying to talk to Loop in the same loop

Siffrin walks away from the tree.

(You don't want to talk to Loop right now.)

Star Room diary

Full page: Star Room

The open book on the table at the back of the room.

This section is what blocks you off from advancing Loopquest in ACT 3. You have to complete a full loop with all Friendquests in order to read this book, in addition to having completed Kingquest to even enter the room.

(A journal with a star on its cover.)

(It looks very old. Feels like it'd break apart in one touch...)

Mirabelle (serious1) . . .

Mirabelle (serious2) I want to read it so bad.

Odile (urgh1) Please, let's stop wasting time and reading every book we come across.

If you have not completed Friendquest yet

Mirabelle (anxious2) But...!!!

Odile (urgh1) NO.

(You'd rather not have to read anything about stars right now.)

(Thinking about the stars right now is like touching a hot stove.)

(Maybe after you finish helping your [allies/family members].)

If you have completed Friendquest

First time

(But...)

(If the book has a star on it, it must be important, right?)

(You get closer to the book.)

Odile (sigh1) ...

Odile (awkward1) Urgh, fine.

Isabeau (brag1) Let's do it! Be careful handling it, though...

(Mirabelle carefully takes the book in her hands, and flips through the pages.)

Mirabelle (anxious1) Hm...

Mirabelle (awkward2) It's a little long. Seems like it's the diary of a very sad person...

Bonnie (wait1) Why sad? What happened to them?

Mirabelle (hm2) They don't actually say... It just feels like they lived through some hard times, and everyone around them seems to brush their worries aside...

Mirabelle (anxious1) Everyone is acting as if everything's fine, when this person continues to suffer.

Isabeau (boo1) Bummer.

Bonnie (and then1) More like "boring". Read a passage!

Mirabelle (anxious2) Um, sure... Well...

Sad Diary "No one can understand what I've been through. Not my friends, not my family, no one."

Sad Diary "If no one can understand me, if I'm doomed to never be truly seen by another..."

Sad Diary "If I'm the only one who can understand what I've gone through..."

Sad Diary "Then, couldn't I just create another self? Another me?"

Sad Diary "Someone I could talk to, who could understand?"

Bonnie (no!2) Huh?!

Isabeau (hahaha2) Oh, interesting! NOW we're getting somewhere!

Mirabelle (anxious3) Talking to another self, to come to terms with what they've gone through...

Bonnie (wait1) But in the end, they'd still be alone, right?

Isabeau (happy1) Sometimes, you just need a voice that answers back, Bonbon!

Bonnie (sulk5) Hm...

Odile (dotdotdot2) It would just be an echo chamber, though. You'd never get to any good conclusion, talking to yourself endlessly...

Odile (gimme1) I suppose they felt so alone they saw no other recourse, though.

Odile (lol2) But tell me, Mirabelle... Do they get a rude wake up call, as they realize creating another self is absolutely impossible?

Isabeau (wonder1) Yeah... Using Craft to change a body is already hard enough...

Isabeau (really1) reating a whole new one, AND identical to another, AND one able to talk back? That's just impossible.

Mirabelle (awkward2) Um, they spend a good chunk here trying to figure out how to do it...

Mirabelle (thinking1) It's a lot of complicated theory. Their writing seems to be getting more frantic, too... It's barely legible, in places.

Odile (lol2) Of course. Realizing this can't be done.

Isabeau (boo1) That's kinda sad.

Mirabelle (oh!1) Oh...? This page... It only has a few words, but...

Sad Diary "I've figured it out. How to create another me."

Sad Diary "Body Craft didn't work. Crafting clay didn't work. Nor wood, or marble. Nothing worked."

Sad Diary "But one thing could."

Sad Diary Wish Craft.

Sad Diary "Wish Craft will make my wish come true."

Sad Diary "I just have to do it."

Sad Diary "I just have to ask."

First time only

(!!!)

(Wish Craft!!!)

(The King mentioned Wish Craft before, didn't he?!)

(He seemed to imply it was used to trap you in this time loop, didn't he!!!)

(So it IS real...)

(It's real, it's real.)

(You hide your smile by covering your mouth.)

Odile (awkward1) Siffrin?

Siffrin (nya1) "And then? And then?"

Subsequent times

(Wish Craft...)

Mirabelle (awkward2) Oh, and then...

(Mirabelle turns the page.)

Mirabelle (oh!1) Oh!

Sad Diary "My wish came true."

Sad Diary "I will always be understood, now."

Isabeau (neutral1) Huh!

Odile (dotdotdot2) Happy for them, I suppose.

Bonnie (serious1) So they did it? They created another them?

If you have not read the first Wish Craft book in the Floor 1 Storage Room

Bonnie (oh!1) Wish... "Wish Craft"? What's Wish Craft?

Odile (dotdotdot2) Surely a type of Craft they invented for this tale.

Odile (doubt1) As we've said, it's impossible to create a copy of yourself.

Isabeau (brag1) Interesting premise, though!

Isabeau (neutral1) And making this fictional tale look like an old diary was interesting.

Isabeau (boo1) Too bad Wish Craft isn't real, though. I'd wish for stuff, too!

If you have read the first book on Wish Craft

Odile (dotdotdot2) With Wish Craft... Interesting that there's another book mentioning it, here.

Isabeau (hahaha1) It is, isn't it?

Odile (dotdotdot2) ...

First time only

(But it is real. It has to be.)

(It has to be!!!)

(You have to tell Loop about this!!!)

Subsequent times

(But it is real. It has to be.)

(You smile.)

Talk to Loop

Full page: PreDialogue

Loop (teehee4) Hi stard--

Siffrin (unhinged1) "Loop!!!"

Loop (oh my1) Woah! Y-yes?

Siffrin (happy1) "You heard it, didn't you?"

Loop (oh1) Heard what? You know, I don't actually spy on you all the ti--

Siffrin (nya1) "I found it, Loop!"

Siffrin (unhinged1) "Wish Craft!!!"

Loop (oh1) Wish Craft...? The thing the King spoke of?

Siffrin (unhinged1) "I found it in a book, Loop!"

Siffrin (unhinged1) "The writer said they wanted to create a whole new body, and used Wish Craft for it!"

Siffrin (unhinged2) "Wish Craft made their wish come true!!!"

Loop (oh1) Create a whole new body?! That's--

Siffrin (nya1) "Impossible, right?"

Siffrin (unhinged1) "But they did it, with Wish Craft!"

Siffrin (unhinged1) "It's real, Loop, it has to be!!!"

Loop (hm1) A Craft that allows you to do the impossible... Like creating a body...

Siffrin (nya1) "Like looping in time!"

Loop (hmmm1) Like, maybe... Freezing people in time, as well?

(!!!)

(That's right...)

(If the King knows about Wish Craft, could Wish Craft be how he got the power to Craft time?)

(Did he use Wish Craft to be able to use Time Craft?)

(It makes sense, doesn't it? Doesn't it?!?)

Loop (oh1) Huh...

Loop (lol5) Ha! Stars, that's something, isn't it? That's a new lead!!!

Siffrin (nya1) "Finally, right?"

Loop (lol5) Finally, indeed!

Loop (lol3) Well. You know what to do, don't you, stardust?

Siffrin (happy1) "Find more information!"

Loop (lol1) Indeed you do.

Loop (hm1) Not to send you on another book chase, but...

Siffrin (um1) "Book time."

Loop (happy1) Book time.

Loop (hm1) You can read those weird books now, can't you? Maybe one of them might mention it...

(Hm...)

Loop (happy1) Alright! Now that you're here, though...

Loop (lol1) How can I help you on this wonderful new loop?

Subsequent times

(You've read the Wish Craft book before, but it wouldn't hurt to get a refresher...)

(You start flipping through it.)

Mirabelle (oh!1) Siffrin? What are you looking at?

  • First time: Siffrin (nya1)
  • Subsequent times: Siffrin (happy1)
  • "It's a book on something called Wish Craft!"

Isabeau (wonder1) Wish Craft? What's that?

Odile (urgh1) Do we really have time for this right now?

  • First time: Siffrin (unhinged1)
  • Subsequent times: Siffrin (nya1)
  • (You grin.) "I think Wish Craft is what gave the King power over Time Craft!"

Isabeau (huhwah1) Oh crab!!!

Mirabelle (awawa1) This would be... Very very very useful to know, wouldn't it?!

Odile (gimme1) Interesting... May I see?

Odile (urgh1) ...How are you even reading this.

Bonnie (sulk5) Letters bad.

Isabeau (angry2) I can't read it at all...

Odile (dotdotdot2) I've never even heard of Wish Craft. Are you sure it's even real?

Isabeau (brag1) Worth a try! Since you can read it, can you translate what you can, Sif?

First time

(You nod furiously.)

(You start reading, and translate as best you can...)

Subsequent times

(You translate again...)

Mirabelle (anxious1) ...I'll leave the thinking to you all.

Bonnie (serious1) I am a child. I have a lot on my mind. I cannot help.

Isabeau (really2) Understandable.

(Isabeau and Odile listen intently, while Mirabelle and Bonnie start playing some kind of game in a corner.)

(You keep translating...)

(...)

(After a bit, Odile nods.)

Odile (dotdotdot2) Hm, I think I understand.

Odile (gimme1) Wish Craft, as the name implies, is the art of Crafting wishes. Of making whatever you desire come true.

Odile (dotdotdot2) According to this, there seems to be no clear limit on what kind of wish you can make come true...

Isabeau (wonder2) A big part of it seems to come through just believing very strongly that you wish will come true, huh?

Odile (wonder1) So by Crafting some specific rituals, in conjunction with a powerful will for your wish to come true, people can seemingly make any kind of wish come true...

Mirabelle (anxious1) Um... Okay...

Bonnie (happy2) You used the word "congestion", so now I'm confused.

Odile (hm1) "Conjunction". It means--

Isabeau (brag1) The same way we use Craft and certain knowledge and will to make figurines move, there's a way to use Craft to make your wishes come true!

(You nod, you nod.)

(Bonnie raises their hand.)

Odile (gimme1) You have a question, Boniface?

Bonnie (sulk5) Um, so, um...

Bonnie (serious1) Can it make any wish come true if you ask?

Odile (reading1) Yes, but the way the wish comes true seems a little more complicated than that, from what Siffrin translated.

Isabeau (brag1) Yeah, depending on what you ask, your wish might not come true, but you might get the MEANS to make your wish come true!

Isabeau (really1) So like, let's say... Let's say you wished to win a Rock Paper Scissors tournament.

Isabeau (wonder1) Instead of just having it come true through pure luck... You might get SOMETHING to help make it come true.

Isabeau (hahaha2) Like, maybe you'd get better at reacting, and you could see your opponent's hand in slow motion as it falls, so you can change your own hand!

Odile (dotdotdot2) Or maybe you'd get the insight to tell what they'd be playing, based on their body language...

Odile (gimme1) Or you'd just get the power to see the future, so you know what hand your opponent will play beforehand.

Mirabelle (happy1) Oh! Or maybe, you could meet a powerful Rock Paper Scissors master, who'd be willing to teach you through the goodness of their heart!

Isabeau (hahaha1) Maybe!!!

Bonnie (hmf1) But what if your opponent also made a wish to win? What do you think would happen?

Odile (wonder1) Hm... Maybe the wishes would cancel each other out, and the match would end in a draw.

Odile (lol2) Or maybe their wishes would both be considered null, and it'd be anyone's game.

Bonnie (and then1) Or maybe the wishes can't work because it's two opposite wishes, so they'd both explode!!!!! And destroy the whole world!!!!!

Mirabelle (awawa1) Oh no!!!

Isabeau (wonder2) But neither of the wishes would come true, then! So maybe...

Isabeau (neutral1) Maybe they'd both get to win somehow. Maybe they'd go to different tournaments.

Mirabelle (excited1) Or sare a medal!

Isabeau (fufufu1) Cute.

Mirabelle (happy1) Hehehe!

Odile (wry1) ...This is fascinating.

Isabeau (really3) Makes you wanna go into wish-ology, huh?

Odile (lol1) Hah! Almost.

Mirabelle (anxious3) So, if Wish Craft is how the King got his powers...

Mirabelle (anxious2) ...What did he wish for, then?

Odile (dotdotdot2) ...I don't know, but...

Odile (gimme1) Maybe his power to freeze people in time might not be what he wished for, but it's the means to make his wish come true.

(To make Vaugarde perfect.)

(A perfect picture.)

Mirabelle (stressed1) OH!!! But then...

Mirabelle (awawa1) Um, question, I have a question!!!

Isabeau (brag1) Yes, Mira! I give you permission to speak!!!

Mirabelle (anxious2) Thank you!!! Um, Siffrin, you think the King could've gotten Time Craft powers by just wishing for them, right?

(You nod.)

(Considering he's the one who told you about Wish Craft in the first place...)

Mirabelle (anxious3) So then... If wishes can be that powerful...

Mirabelle (awawa1) Wouldn't anyone making a wish at any time be... Kind of dangerous?!

Mirabelle (stressed1) We'd be living in a very different world, wouldn't we?! If someone wished to be the strongest person alive... Or a kid wished for a million ponies!!!

Bonnie (wow1) We can do that...? Wish for a million ponies...?

Mirabelle (angy1) OH NO!!!

Isabeau (boo1) To answer your question, my dear Mira...

Isabeau (neutral1) It seems that just wishing for things does hold a little bit of power, but like, not enough to actually make anything come true.

Isabeau (brag1) But like Sif said, over time, people figured out specific ways to do Wish Craft, to increase their chances of the wish coming true!

Odile (gimme1) And it depends on the wish, too. Some wishes are easier to make come true.

Isabeau (hahaha1) It also depends on the strength of the wish! Like, how much you want it to come true!

Isabeau (hahaaa1) Although, it seems the strength of the wish isn't as important as the whole ritual part.

Isabeau (neutral1) You can wish as hard as you want for something, but if there's no ritual, it's very likely that nothing will happen.

Odile (wonder1) Hm... "I wish I won this single game" wouldn't ask for much belief, or for a lot of rituals...

Odile (gimme1) But in theory, you could prepare rituals and wish for something much larger, like "I wish I could win this world tournament"...

Bonnie (sulk2) ...Or "I wish to get enough power so I can freeze a whole country in time", right?

Odile (dotdotdot2) ...Right.

Mirabelle (wonder1) So the King knew how to do Wish Craft, then? That's what this means?

Mirabelle (anxious3) Wish Craft could account for his mastery over Time Craft... And so, he must have known specific rituals to make his wish come true...

Mirabelle (anxious2) Where could he have learned them...?

Isabeau (angry2) ...

First time

(...)

(Does it matter?)

(Because that's it, isn't it! That's it!!!)

(Wish Craft is the art of making wishes come true... Wishes that could bestow immense power...)

(You can't help but smile widely.)

(Finally, a hint! Finally, a real path you can follow!)

(Something you can do!!!)

(You try and calm your breathing.)

(Phew...)

(Okay.)

(...Specific rituals, huh...)

(It's a long shot, but there might be another book about Wish Craft somewhere... Something you couldn't read before...)

Isabeau (awkward1) Oh, another wiggly headachy book.

Mirabelle (oh!1) Is this another book on Wish Craft?

(You nod.)

(You start translating as best you can...)

(The book talks about many different rituals to Craft wishes, from the correct way to pick up 4 leaf clovers, to calling out to shooting stars the right way, to...)

Bonnie (happy2) Favor Tree what now?

Mirabelle (uwah!1) THE FAVOR TREES CAN GRANT WISHES?!?!?

Odile (uwah!1) FAVOR TREES LIKE THE ONE IN DORMONT?!?!

Isabeau (omgggg1) THE ONE EVERYONE ASKED THINGS TO?!?

First time

(Aha!!!)

(It makes sense, it makes sense!!!)

(You even vaguely remember thinking about it, a long time ago!!!)

(Asking a higher power for a favor is no different than making a wish, isn't it? Isn't it???)

(So, could someone's wish to the Favor Tree have trapped you here? Whose?)

(What)

(What did you wish for, at the Favor Tree, again?)

(You think and think and think, trying to remember what you even wished for.)

(It was so far back!!! Such a long time ago...)

(. . .)

(You wished...)

Depends on who you wished for in ACT 1.

  • (You wished... to visit more places with Mirabelle.)
  • (You wished... to wear clothes Isabeau has made.)
  • (You wished... to see Odile's country with your own eyes.)
  • (You wished... to be here when Bonnie reunites with their sister.)

(Was that all?)

(You think so.)

(Oh.)

(It can't... It can't be because of your wish, then.)

(You haven't even gotten farther than beating the King, let alone leaving the House to make that wish come true.)

(Your wish can't come true until you escape the loops...)

(. . .)

(So then, maybe...)

Subsequent times

(Your wish isn't what's trapping you here.)

  • First time: Siffrin (surprised3)
  • Subsequent times: Siffrin (fake1)
  • "What did you all wish for?"

Odile (gimme1) To the Favor Tree, you mean?

Odile (urgh1) Well, I mentioned it earlier, but I... Wished... To win a coin flip.

If you skipped past the coin flip via looping, the game seems to use whichever result you had the last time you actually saw the scene.

If Odile lost the coin flip

Odile (reading1) A wish that didn't come true, by the way.

Odile (hm2) Well, I might have done the correct ritual, but I didn't put any belief in it, did I?

If Odile won the coin flip

Odile (reading1) A wish that came true, now that I think about it.

Odile (hm2) I didn't put any belief in it, but the rituals are supposed to be the important part, aren't they?

(But you know her wish doesn't come true on every loop...)

(Some loops she wins the coin flip, some loops she doesn't.)

Bonnie (sad1) I... I asked for my sister to be okay.

Mirabelle (awawa1) I-I wished for all of Vaugarde to be safe from the King!

(Hm...)

(...)

Odile (doubt1) ...

Odile (doubt1) ...

Bonnie (serious1) ...

Isabeau (blush1) . . .

Mirabelle (anxious1) ...What about you, Isabeau?

Isabeau (blush2) I, um, didn't wish for anything.

Odile (urgh1) What.

Mirabelle (anxious3) What?

Bonnie (UWAH1) WHAT?!?!?

Isabeau (NO!1) LISTEN!!! I just didn't know what to wish for!!! I'm an indecisive guy!!! Leave me alone!!!

Odile (sigh1) I can't believe this...

Isabeau (fight2) Oh, m'dame "I'm gonna wish to win my next coin flip" is gonna judge me now?!

Odile (urgh1) I didn't think anything would happen!!! At least I wished for something!!!

Mirabelle (hm2) That's too bad...

Isabeau (boo1) Haaah... Yeah, I'm kinda bummed I didn't wish for anything now.

Isabeau (hahaaa1) Why didn't I clap my hands and wish for something...

  • First time: Siffrin (surprised1) (Huh?)
  • Subsequent times: Siffrin (surprised3) (Follow the script...)
  • "Clap your hands?"

Isabeau (really1) Uh, yeah?

Isabeau (neutral1) That's how you ask a favor to the Favor Trees.

Isabeau (brag1) You look at the tree, and clap your hands once, and say aloud whatever you ask for.

Isabeau (neutral1) ...

  • First time: Siffrin (okay2)
  • Subsequent times: Siffrin (hide1)
  • "..."

Isabeau (hahaaa1) Um...

(Isabeau looks at everyone else.)

Isabeau (uwah!1) Is that... Not correct?

Bonnie (happy2) No, it's what I did.

Odile (doubt1) Me too. This is how you taught me, Isabeau.

Mirabelle (awawa1) That's also how I learned it at school?

Odile (huh2) Siffrin, did you... Not do it like that?

  • First time: Siffrin (um2)
  • Subsequent times: Siffrin (fake2)
  • "No, of course not?"

  • First time: Siffrin (questions1)
  • Subsequent times: Siffrin (fake1)
  • "You make your wish, and breathe it into the leaf you like best..."
  • "...and fold the leaf over to keep your wish safe."

Isabeau (hahaaa1) ...

Odile (hm1) What?

  • First time: Siffrin (awkward1)
  • Subsequent times: Siffrin (fake1)
  • "It just... Makes sense?"

Mirabelle (anxious1) ...

First time only

(They're all looking at you!!!)

(You've only wished at a Favor Tree that one time, but it just makes sense!!!)

(You try to explain...)

  • First time: Siffrin (okay2)
  • Subsequent times: Siffrin (fake1)
  • "You choose a leaf, to represent yourself."

Odile (gimme1) Uh huh.

  • First time: Siffrin (questions1)
  • Subsequent times: Siffrin (fake1)
  • "You breathe your wish into it... To make a link between you and whatever you're wishing to."

Isabeau (wonder2) So, a link between you and the Tree?

  • First time: Siffrin (okay2)
  • Subsequent times: Siffrin (hide2)
  • "No, the Universe? I think?"

If you've read the newspaper on Floor 1 this loop

Bonnie (sulk5) So, the stars and stuff? They're the ones who make your wish come true?

If you haven't

Bonnie (no!2) ...What's a--

Odile (doubt1) Keep going, Siffrin.

  • First time: Siffrin (questions1)
  • Subsequent times: Siffrin (fake1)
  • "You repeat your wish three times..."

Mirabelle (thinking1) Three times?

  • First time: Siffrin (surprised3)
  • Subsequent times: Siffrin (hide1)
  • "Six could work, I think, or seven, or thirteen."

Subsequent times only

(It's about which number feels right.)

  • First time: Siffrin (questions1)
  • Subsequent times: Siffrin (fake1)
  • "And then you fold the wish into the leaf, to tether the link between you and the wish."

  • First time: Siffrin (neutral1)
  • Subsequent times: Siffrin (fake1)
  • "Touching it."

Odile (dotdotdot3) . . .

  • First time: (They're all staring at you!!!)
  • Subsequent times: (They all stare at you.)

  • First time: Siffrin (awkward1)
  • Subsequent times: Siffrin (fake2)
  • "If you just look at the Tree and clap and say stuff aloud, why would the wish know where to go?"

Mirabelle (awawa1) ...I suppose so???

Odile (guilty1) That... Kind of makes sense, I suppose.

Odile (urgh1) But that's so many details to remember...

Mirabelle (anxious2) And that's not how we were taught at all... It's something we learn as Vaugardians, and I've never heard anyone do it differently...

Isabeau (boo1) But then, the Favor Trees are more of a superstition, aren't they? No one really takes it seriously.

Isabeau (hahaaa1) Well, except lately, where everyone started taking it super seriously just in case.

Bonnie (no!2) So... So...

Bonnie (stop!2) So did everyone in the country mess up their wish?!?

Odile (laugh1) HAH!!!!!

(Odile starts laughing.)

Mirabelle (awawa1) Wh-Why are you laughing???

Odile (gentle1) Sorry, sorry. It's just funny.

Odile (laugh1) This could have been a way to save Vaugarde if everyone somehow wished for it, but no one knew how to do it correctly, so... Ha!

Mirabelle (anxious2) Hmf...

Odile (lol1) And the only person who knew how to do it wished for... ...

Odile (gimme1) What DID you wish for, Siffrin?

Siffrin (fake1) (It's embarrassing, so...) "I wished for croissants to be eradicated."

Isabeau (hahaaa1) What.

Bonnie (no!2) What!!! No!!! Not croissants!!!

Mirabelle (awawa1) And since Siffrin knew the ritual, croissants might actually be...!!!

Odile (lol4) Oh nooo. I sure hope this specific wish doesn't come true.

Isabeau (wonder1) But yeah, no one except Sif knew the right ritual, but...

Isabeau (hahaha1) Rituals are only one part of it, right? Belief is another!

Isabeau (hahaha1) If enough people wish for the same thing, maybe it can make a difference!

Odile (lol2) Heh... A drop of belief in an ocean of nothing.

Isabeau (boo1) Boo.

First time only

(Hm...)

(So... Mirabelle wished for Vaugarde to be saved, Odile wished to win a coin flip, Bonnie wished for their sister to be okay, and Isabeau didn't wish for anything.)

(You don't think any of those wishes could've trapped you here.)

(So... Maybe someone else's?)

(The King probably wished for Vaugarde to be perfect or something, so you don't think it's related to you...)

(...)

(Is there a way to know what people in Vaugarde wished for?)

(You should ask the villagers in Dormont what they wished for...)

Dormont's wishes

Pages: Dormont Center, Dormont East, Dormont North

You do not actually have to talk to anyone in Dormont. Some NPCs do flip a switch for doing so, but it doesn't do anything.

Dormont Center

Big Boulanger

(You need to ask...)

Big Boulanger ...

Big Boulanger I asked the Tree to save my daughter.

Bored Librarian

(You need to ask...)

Bored Librarian What I asked the Favor Tree?

Bored Librarian ...Why are you asking?

Castle-Loving One

(You need to ask...)

Castle-Loving One What I asked the Favor Tree?

Castle-Loving One Ha... Do you even need to ask?

(You guess not.)

Cool Jeweler

(You need to ask...)

Cool Jeweler ...The Favor Tree, huh...

Cool Jeweler I asked it to save my wife. Make her move again.

Cool Jeweler I could've asked it so save everyone, but... I'm selfish like that, I suppose.

Daydreaming One

(You need to ask...)

Daydreaming One ...Hm? Are you wondering what I asked the Favor Tree?

Daydreaming One Hehe... It's a secret!

Fishing One

(You need to ask...)

Fishing One ...Hm? What I asked the Favor Tree?

Fishing One Heheheee... I asked for Vaugarde to be saved, so I can catch some more fish.

Running One

(You need to ask...)

Running One Huh? If I asked the Favor Tree for anything?

Running One I asked for Vaugarde to be saved, of course!

Running One What an interesting question! The Head Housemaiden asked me the same thing, before the House fell!

Small Boulangère

(You need to ask...)

Small Boulangère The tree?

Small Boulangère I-I asked for...

Small Boulangère I asked for a pile of croissants!!!

Smug One

(You need to ask...)

Smug One ...The Favor Tree?

Smug One I asked to be able to go back to Poteria soon.

Smug One ...

Story-loving Shopkeeper

(You need to ask...)

Stylish One

(You need to ask...)

Stylish One Oh, oh, I asked the Favor Tree to help Mirabelle on her journey!

Stylish One I don't really believe in that stuff, but the Head Housemaiden does, so I thought I'd give it a shot!

Tutorial Kid

(You need to ask...)

Tutorial Kid Huh? What I asked the big tree?

Tutorial Kid I asked... To win my next Rock Paper Scissors fight.

(Of course.)

Dormont North

Old One

(You need to ask...)

Old One The Favor Tree...?

Old One ...

Old One I asked it... That if the end was coming, to make it fast.

Dormont East

Beautiful One

(You need to ask...)

Beautiful One The Tree, huh...

Beautiful One I asked for everyone in Dormont to have a good time, tomorrow.

Blind One

(You need to ask...)

Blind One If I asked anything to the Favor Tree?

Blind One I did! I asked for everyone in Vaugarde to be saved. Pretty boring, huh?

Flower Growing One

(You need to ask...)

Flower Growing One What I asked the Tree?

Flower Growing One ...It's private, isn't it?

Flower Growing One I didn't tell the Head Housemaiden, so I don't see why I'd have to tell you. Sorry.

Frog-loving kid

(You need to ask...)

Frog-loving kid T-The tree? Um...

Frog-loving kid ...

Frog-loving kid I asked for a big frog to come in and punch the King in the face.

Sky-loving kid

(You need to ask...)

Sky-loving kid The Favor Tree?

Sky-loving kid ...I asked for everyone to be okay tomorrow.

Wizard-loving kid

(You need to ask...)

Wizard-loving kid Huh? Who cares about some stupid tree?

Wizard-loving kid I didn't ask it anything.

Wizard-loving kid I-It's your job to save us tomorrow anyway, isn't it?!

List of wishes in the Head Housemaiden's office

Full page: Head Housemaiden's Office

(Some paper and ink.)

(On the paper, you can see a spreadsheet of some kind.)

(There's two columns, one filled with names, while the other only has one or two.)

(The first, full column is titled "Save Vaugarde".)

(The second, near empty column is titled "Other".)

(. . .)

(And then, you realize...)

(This is... A list of people who wished to save Vaugarde!!!)

(You look around her desk, trying to find out more.)

(Why would she record the people who wished to save Vaugarde?)

(...There!!!)

(It's a little notebook, jammed between random boring paperwork...)

(In it, the Head Housemaiden talks about Wish Craft... How in the days before the King attacked, she noticed everyone was wishing to the Favor Tree for the same thing:)

(To save Vaugarde.)

(And she started wondering if this wish could be the key to the King's defeat, somehow...)

(So the Head Housemaiden knew about Wish Craft!!!)

(...A wish for Vaugarde to be saved...)

(Reading this... You start to wonder whether this wish could be related to your loops.)

(Have you been looping this whole time... To save Vaugarde?)

(If you think about it... It somewhat fits.)

(You and your friends are the only ones who can save Vaugarde, so if you died...)

(The wish could activate then, making sure to loop you back to before your death, so you could try again?)

(Maybe the wish manifested itself by giving you the power to loop back in time?)

(Without this power, you would've failed and died, and the King would never have been defeated...)

(Making the wish impossible to fulfill.)

(So maybe that's it...? You're here because of this wish?)

(But Vaugardians shouldn't know the correct rituals to wish... And rituals are the most important part. The wish shouldn't have come true without them.)

(Could their belief in this wish be enough for it to come true? If a lot of people wished, on a country-wide scale?)

(And... Why is this wish centered on you? Why not everyone in your party?)

(And, and! If that's the case, if this wish is why you're here, then why are you still here?)

(You've beaten the King already, haven't you?)

(If that wish is why you're here, the loop would've stopped after you beat the King, right?)

(Did you do something wrong...?)

(. . . )

(The pieces don't completely fit yet, but...)

(There's no doubt in your mind that Vaugardians' wish to "save Vaugarde" is why you're trapped in this loop.)

(You're getting closer.)

(You smile.)

Mirabelle (anxious3) Siffrin, is something wrong? You've been staring at this notebook for a while...

Siffrin (fake1) "Just lost in thought!"

Mirabelle (happy1) O-oh, okay! Shall we get going, then?

(You nod.)

(...The Head Housemaiden...)

(She's the one who wrote this. She knows about Wish Craft.)

(She knew something was wrong, this whole time.)

(She might know... How to...)

(. . .)

(You should go and talk to her as fast as you can!)

(But first, you have to go talk to Loop! You have to tell them what you've found!!!)

This conversation gives you 3 Weird Points.

Talk to Loop, again

Full page: PreDialogue

Loop (happy1) ...Heya, stardu--

Siffrin (unhinged1) "LOOP!"

Siffrin (unhinged2) "I figured it out, Loop!"

Siffrin (unhinged1) "Everyone's wish-- It's probably the reason I'm here!"

Siffrin (unhinged1) "Everyone's wish to save Vaugarde!!!"

Loop (oh1) ...Huh?

Siffrin (unhinged2) "It makes sense, Loop!"

Siffrin (unhinged1) "I'm looping and not dying so we can beat the King!"

Siffrin (unhinged1) "Everyone has been wishing for Vaugarde to be saved from the King!"

Siffrin (unhinged1) "And if I die-- The King can't be beaten, Vaugarde can't be saved!"

Siffrin (unhinged2) "That's why I can loop back in time, Loop! THAT'S why!!!"

Loop (away1) What? But then, why--

Siffrin (unhinged1) "This whole time-- I might be trapped because Vaugarde wished for it!"

Siffrin (unhinged2) "Vaugardians don't know the ritual for the Favor Trees, but their belief and hope alone might have been enough!"

Siffrin (unhinged1) "An entire country of people wishing for the same thing should be enough to make the Universe listen, isn't it?"

Siffrin (unhinged1) "And the Head Housemaiden knows this! She made a list!"

Siffrin (unhinged1) "And she knows about the loops, at the very end, she always notices!!!"

Siffrin (unhinged2) "So she knows about Wish Craft, about the wish that brought me here..."

Siffrin (unhinged4) "So she'll know! She'll know how to fix it!"

Siffrin (unhinged4) "I just need to ask!!!"

Loop (away1) ...Is that so? But, didn't you already--

Siffrin (unhinged1) "It is so!"

Siffrin (unhinged1) "I might be able to break the loop, somehow!"

Loop (away1) ...

Siffrin (unhinged1) "You know, it might just be that I need to make everyone's wish come true! And everything will be back to normal!"

Siffrin (unhinged1) "If I talk to her, she'll know, she'll be able to tell me what to do..."

Siffrin (unhinged4) "If I can just talk to her...!"

Loop (away1) ...But, stardust, you already tried, and...

Siffrin (happy1) "It's all thanks to you, Loop."

Loop (oh1) W-What?

Siffrin (happy1) "If you didn't push me to keep going, if you weren't there, I wouldn't have gotten this far."

Siffrin (lol1) "So, thank you, Loop!"

Siffrin (nya1) "After I talk to her, I'll see you, right?"

Siffrin (unhinged1) "I'll see you, in a brand new world!"

Loop (away1) I...

Loop (sad2) ...

Loop (fake1) Sure, stardust.

(You smile.)

(Loop seems to smile back.)

Loop (away1) ...But, stardust... Before you go and talk to her...

Loop (subdued1) I had a theory, while you were gone.

(A theory?)

Loop (away1) ...How do I put this...

Loop (away1) The times when you loop back on your own, and not because of your death...

Loop (serious2) I was thinking the reason why might be linked to your emotional state.

(Huh?)

Loop (serious2) Emotions are often high, when you loop back in those moments, aren't they?

Loop (away1) So maybe you don't loop because you die... But because you feel like there would be no reason to go on, maybe?

Loop (away1) Something that, to you, feels on the same level of hopelessness as death? On the same level as the world ending?

(You think about a House, exploding in lights.)

Siffrin (angry2) "Something like the death of my family members, you mean?"

Loop (sad2) ...Yes.

Loop (away1) But wouldn't that fit? Wouldn't that explain it?

Loop (hm1) Loop (serious2): You can't continue, because your party is dead.

If Bonnie yelled at you during the 2nd Snack Break:

Loop (serious2) You can't continue, because the Kid is crying and hates you.

If Siffrin noticed the shoulder touch:

Loop (serious2) You can't continue, because the Fighter rejected you.

If you got the Tutorial event:

Loop (serious2) You can't continue, because you killed a Sadness in a way that makes them scared of you.

If you got the Ghost event:

Loop (serious2) You can't continue, because you all saw a ghost of yourself and they're reacting like nothing's wrong.

If you got the Suspicious event:

Loop (hm1) You can't continue, because your Researcher has found out about your loops and hates you for keeping them secret.

Loop (subdued1) You can't continue, because the King has beaten you, and the Kid is about to die.

Loop (subdued1) You can't continue, because, somehow, you know this is the end.

(...)

(Maybe that's the case, but...)

(But why would time loop back just because of how you feel?)

(You didn't wish for any of this, did you?)

(And...)

Siffrin (hide5) "What about the Head Housemaiden?"

Siffrin (angry3) "Why do I always loop back when I talk to her?"

Loop (away1) ...I don't know, yet.

Loop (away1) I don't know if what happens with the Head Housemaiden is even related to that. It could be that this is the loop's natural end, or something.

Loop (serious2) But if it is linked to your feelings...

Loop (serious2) Does something happen when you see her that makes you feel like this is the end?

(...)

(. . .)

(You

Time skips back.

(Loop sighs.)

Loop (lol5) Heya stardust! How can I help you in this wonderful new loop?

End of ACT 4

Full page: Euphrasie End Talk

First time

(. . .)

(Talking with everyone again made you think.)

(Made you think that maybe... Maybe you could keep this going for a little bit longer.)

(Live in the loops for a little while longer, keep the play going for a little longer.)

(If you wanted.)

(You can always talk to her later, and escape the loops another time, can't you?)

(. . .)

Subsequent times

Only if the player chose to keep looping instead of ending ACT 4.

(...)

(You could keep looping for a little longer... Or ask the Head Housemaiden about Wish Craft...)

(No matter what, it's all over if you talk to her!!!)

  • (Ask her about Wish Craft!!!)

    Euphrasie (thankyou1) Traveling one!

Euphrasie (smiling4) Are you done talking with your companions? Yes, wonderful, wonderful!

Euphrasie (smiling1) I'd like to thank you for accompanying young Mirabelle this far. I'm very grateful.

Euphrasie (thankyou1) Siffrin, yes? If there's anything I can do to thank you, please don't hesitate to let me know!

Euphrasie (thankyou1) I know you will go back on your travels soon, but I do hope you'll keep in touch, if only for young Mirabelle...

Euphrasie (smiling4) But no matter what, know that Dormont will always be open to you! Please come back--

Siffrin (unhinged1) "I know about Wish Craft!"

    Euphrasie (oh1) Wish Craft...?

Euphrasie (smiling4) Oh, Wish Craft! Yes, it just so happened that a lot of people in Vaugarde wished for our country to be saved!

Euphrasie (smiling1) I did not think it would work, but if you're here, perhaps it... Did...

    The screen glitches.

    Euphrasie (CRAB1) ...!!!!!

The music slows and the screen darkens with static.

Euphrasie (CRAB1) Oh... Oh no. Oh no, no, no, no, no...

    Euphrasie (CRAB1) Oh... Siffrin...!

Euphrasie (ending1) I'm so sorry! There's no way we can stop it now...!

Euphrasie (ending2) I'm sorry! You'll be going back! Back when everything started!

Siffrin (unhinged4) "But you can fix it, can't you?!"

    Another glitch.

Euphrasie (ending1) I know you thought your quest was over, but it can't be!

    Euphrasie (ending1) Something's broken, something's failing, rotting!!!

(No, no, no, she's repeating the same things still!!!)

(Why is she always repeating the same thing, over and over and over?!)

Siffrin (angry4) (You just wish she would ANSWER YOU!!!!!!) "Now that you know, now that I know, you can fix it!!!"

    Euphrasie (ending3) . . .

    Euphrasie (ending3) Fix it?

The music slows and grows distorted.

Euphrasie is cupping Siffrin's face with her hands, bringing the two so close that their foreheads touch. The background is pitch black, and the two are in stark white contrast to it. The only shadow is the one Siffrin's hat casts over his face.

Euphrasie No. It's too late, Siffrin. It's always been too late.

Siffrin (What? But...) "But if you know about Wish Craft... You must know how to--"

A close up of Euphrasie crying, big round tears running down her face.

    Euphrasie Oh, Siffrin...!

Euphrasie It's true. All of Vaugarde wished to the Favor Tree, wished for us to be saved.

Euphrasie We wished for a savior. A way for us to win against the King.

Euphrasie And Wish Craft gave us the means to do it, didn't it? Made sure it'd work?

Euphrasie Somehow, Wish Craft gave us a savior, able to use Time Craft... Able to retry, as many times as it took! So you could beat the King!!!

    Siffrin "Right! So--"

Euphrasie But... But something went wrong, didn't it?

Euphrasie squeezing her eyes shut as she cries. She looks deeply saddened and regretful.

Euphrasie Something goes wrong, every time!!!

Euphrasie If you're here now, asking about Wish Craft, then something must be wrong, isn't it? This isn't the first time you've gotten this far, isn't it?!?

Euphrasie It shouldn't be like this... Why does time loop back, even though the King has been defeated?!?

Euphrasie The only answer I can find... Is it's because we did it wrong.

    (?!?)

Euphrasie I don't know what happened! But we must've done it wrong!!!

Euphrasie None of us in Vaugarde knew the exact ritual, but-- But we must have done it so wrong, it broke, and it doesn't answer to us at all anymore!!!

Euphrasie Or maybe-- Maybe someone wished for it, wished for our wish to fail!!! Wished for this!!!

Euphrasie Something made our wish break, made it fail, made it rot!!!

Euphrasie O-Or maybe the wish can't come true anymore, somehow!!! Maybe the King wasn't defeated the right way-- It'll forever remain incomplete, and Wish Craft, the world, will not abide it!!!

    Euphrasie I don't know, I don't know, I don't know!!!

Siffrin is looking up at Euphrasie, face still framed by her hands on their cheeks. Their pupil is a white slit, and their face is cast in shadow.

    (You can't move.)

    (You can't breathe.)

    (The wish... Is broken?)

(She can't help you, even now?)

    (You're stuck here forever?)

Euphrasie If only... If only we had fought back against the King, instead! If only we didn't wish for such a thing!

Euphrasie If only I knew this would happen, if I had noticed it sooner, I would never have let people wish at all!!!

Euphrasie To know you'll be trapped for all eternity, Siffrin... I am so sorry!!!

Euphrasie It's our fault, all of Vaugarde, that you have to suffer like this!!!

    More glitches.

Euphrasie I just hope that one day...

Euphrasie cupping Siffrin's face. This time, hre back is turned to the viewer. She is hunched over in misery. Siffrin is entirely cast in the shadow of their hat. White on black silhouettes of Siffrin encircle them.

Euphrasie You might learn to forgive us!!!!!!

The screen glitches black. The game over screen appears briefly, until Siffrin is torn away after a split second.

The game over text reads, at random:

    • (The curtain falls.)
    • (Something's broken, failing, rotting.)
    • (You got to the end.)
  • (Keep looping for a little longer.)

    (Just a little longer...)

(Just a moment longer, a minute, a second longer...)

    (Before the curtain falls.)

The scene then proceeds as usual.
