Tutorial

Plays on first movement after talking to Mirabelle for the first time in ACT 1.

[Oh, also, also!]

[There's a lot of people to talk to and drawers to snoop inside of around here. You can interact with people and objects by pressing [button] when standing in front of them.]

Only on PC

[If you need to, you can always configure your button settings in the Options menu!]

Banana

For death quotes and such, see Deaths.

First time

(Ah... You heard the villagers talk about this.)

(A very dangerous fruit which, if approached, will spell your doom...)

(...This is just a banana peel. Do bananas even grow here...?)

ACT 2

(The banana peel lays here, menacingly.)

ACT 3 & 4

(The banana peels lays here.)

ACT 4, after using the banana 10+ times

(The scent of the banana peel makes you want to throw up.)

After seeing plantain chips. Only occurs once.

(...But wait, instead of a banana peel, could it be...)

(A plantain peel...?)

(Whatever. Plantains are just bananas that taste bad.)

(This is a banana peel to you, now and forevermore.)

(Step closer?)

  • (Yep.)

    ACT 2 & 3

    (You decide to step closer.)

    (Here we go...)

    ACT 4

    (You take a step forward.)

Siffrin steps on the banana peel. A woosh is heard, and they die.

  • (No...)

    ACT 2 & 3

(You do not step closer to the dangerous forbidden fruit.)

    ACT 4

    (You take a step back.)

Not right now

ACT 1

(You would rather not die today, so you leave the banana peel alone.)

If you need to talk to Mirabelle about friendquests (first loop of ACT 3)

(Not right now.)

(You need to talk to Mirabelle first.)

If you need to talk to Loop

Looping back after major events: beating the King the first time, getting to the end with all friendquests for the first time, finishing Kingquest, or after talking to the Head Housemaiden for Loopquest.

(Not right now.)

ACT 5

(Stepping on it isn't in the stage directions.)

Daydreaming One

Many of Siffrin's reaction here change if you've found out where the Daydreaming One's sister went. For simplicity's sake, this will be labelled "After finding out".

There's also some alternate text for a switch that, as far as I can tell, cannot be activated. Since this text is unused, it has been omitted.

The way to get the key scene with the Daydreaming One is to ask about Isabeau and Odile in either order, then ask about Odile again.

Daydreaming One Hm... Hu-hu-hum...

Before finding out

(The woman is daydreaming, singing softly under her breath.)

After finding out

(...)

(She sings softly, her mind elsewhere.)

(...)

Second time

(Since everything got reset, you could ask her about someone else this time...?)

After asking about both Isabeau and Odile, but before finding out

(...)

(Something's weird about her.)

(Some loops, she mentions her sister, and others, she says she's an only child...)

(You should ask her about Isabeau or Odile...)

Daydreaming One Oh, hi! You're one of the saviors, aren't you! I recognize you!

Daydreaming One And you traveled with a few people, right! You traveled with, um...

ACT 1 & 2

Siffrin (questions2) (...)

ACT 3 & 4

Siffrin (fake1) (...)

After finding out

Siffrin (serious1) (...)

  • "...Mirabelle?"

Daydreaming One Mirabelle!!! I know her, she's from here!!!

Daydreaming One What a wonderful young woman. I never talked to her much, though!

Daydreaming One Hm, I wonder though... Is she the younger or older sister of your group? She'd fit both, wouldn't she?

    ACT 1 & 2

    (You laugh awkwardly.)

    ACT 3

    (You smile awkwardly.)

    ACT 4

    (You don't react.)

    After finding out

    (...)

  • "...Isabeau?"

    Daydreaming One Isabeau!!!

Daydreaming One What a nice young man. And so full of energy, too!

Daydreaming One I'm an only child, but I feel like having an older brother like him would be fun.

If you asked about Odile in a previous loop. Only occurs if you haven't found out.

    (...Huh?)

    (Something feels weird.)

(When you asked her about Odile, didn't she tell you she had a sister?)

(But this loop, she says she's an only child...?)

    Siffrin (serious1) (...) "Don't you have a sister?"

Daydreaming One I... I don't? I just said I'm an only child, silly!

    (...)

(You want to ask her more, but she's already back to her daydream.)

    If you've already found out

    (...)

(She can't remember her sister's name, but...)

(Isn't that because her sister went to...)

    (...)

    (You stop thinking about it.)

The conversation ends, skipping any post-question dialogue except asking about wishes.

  • "...Odile?"

    Daydreaming One Yes, Odile!

Daydreaming One She's from Ka Bue, yes? My sister visited Ka Bue, once.

Daydreaming One Did you know they call most people by their last names? Such a different culture!

Daydreaming One And this Odile, hm, I can tell...

Daydreaming One She's like the mom of the group, isn't she?

    First time

    (Ew.)

(Isabeau called Odile "Mom" jokingly once.)

(As a result, she made sure none of you would ever call her "mom", even as a joke.)

(Although she's fine with Bonnie calling her a grandma, it seems.)

    ACT 2

    (You pull a face.)

    ACT 3

    (You smile awkwardly.)

    ACT 4

    (You don't react.)

If you asked about Isabeau in a previous loop. Only occurs if you haven't found out.

    (...Huh?)

    (Something feels weird.)

(When you asked her about Isabeau, didn't she tell you she was an only child?)

(But this loop, she says she has a sister...?)

    Siffrin (serious1) (...)

    • "Aren't you an only child?"

Daydreaming One What? No, I have a sister!

Daydreaming One She's a few years younger than me. A few years ago she decided to travel the world, all on her own!

Daydreaming One She lives in another country now. Isn't that so brave? Living in a foreign country, just like that?

      (...)

(You want to ask her more, but she's already back to her daydream.)

    • "Which country did your sister move to?" Available condtionally

Available after asking her if she has a sister in the Isabeau branch of the conversation, and if she's an only child in the Odile branch of the conversation. This triggers "knowing about her sister", and can only be picked once.

      Daydreaming One Ah, my sister?

Daydreaming One She's a few years younger than me. A few years ago she decided to travel the world, all on her own!

Daydreaming One She lives in another country now. Isn't that so brave? Living in a foreign country, just like that?

      (...)

      The music fades out.

      Siffrin (what1) "But which country?"

Daydreaming One Oh, sorry! My sister now lives in...  . . .

      Daydreaming One She lives...  In...

      Static fades in.

      Daydreaming One ......

Daydreaming One My sister...  My sister...  She's my younger sister, she's weird, she's brave, she likes to sing, and I...

Daydreaming One I...  can't...  remember...  her name...!!!!!!!

Time skips. Static disappears and the music resumes.

Daydreaming One My sister? What sister?

Daydreaming One I'm an only child, you know!

      (What...)

      (...)

If you've already found out, see above.

  • "...Bonnie?"

Daydreaming One Bonnie!!! Oh, what a cutie.

Daydreaming One DEFINITELY the younger sibling of your group, there's no doubt about it.

    ACT 1 & 2

    (You laugh awkwardly.)

    ACt 3

    (You smile awkwardly.)

    ACT 4

    (You don't react.)

    After finding out

    (...)

Second time

Siffrin (okay2) (You have to mention it...) "We're not actually a family, you know."

Daydreaming One Oh, I know, I know.

Daydreaming One This is just a fun thought exercise! I just like to think about family dynamics, and just families in general! I think that's a normal thing to do!

(...Okay?)

(Families, huh...)

After getting to the end with all friendquests

Siffrin (sadsmile1) (...) "Having people you consider family is nice."

Daydreaming One It really is, isn't it?

Daydreaming One I hope you all get to spend more time together!

During Loopquest

(You need to ask...)

Daydreaming One ...Hm? Are you wondering what I asked the Favor Tree?

Daydreaming One Hehe... It's a secret!

Repeated interaction

(The woman is daydreaming, singing softly under her breath.)

ACT 5

Daydreaming One Hm... Hu-hu-hum...

If you didn't find out

(You don't want to talk to her.)

If you did

(She still doesn't remember a thing.)

(You almost envy her.)

(You walk away.)

Doors

ACT 5 only.

Door to the Cool Jeweler's house

(No point going in there.)

(Either she'll be able to ask her wife which necklace she prefers later tomorrow, or she won't.)

Door to the Castle-loving One's house

(No point going in there.)

(Either he'll be able to know what happens in the last issue on his own later tomorrow, or he won't.)

Door to the Library

(No point going in there.)

(You've found all the information there was to find.)

Door to the Stylish One's house

(No point going in there.)

If you have the Stylish Bow

(You already have the Stylish Ribbon, after all.)

Fishing One

You have a 10% chance to catch a fish from the tenth time onwards. However, you can only catch it once.

The maximum for Memory of Fishing's attack boost is 40 times.

Fishing One Heheheee... I am fishing.

Fishing One You look like someone who would like fishing.

Fishing One Would you like to fish for a little bit?

Second time

(You didn't catch anything last time... But maybe this time?!?)

ACT 1 & 2

Siffrin (questions2) (Why not.)

ACT 3 & 4

Siffrin (fake1) (...)

  • "...Yes."

    Fishing One Heheheeee...

    First time

    (Fishing, huh...)

(You don't really know how to do this.)

(You take the fishing pole they're offering you, choose a lure the same shade as the water, check the fishing pole, throw it in the water, and sit down and wait.)

    (Yeah, this feels right.)

    (Fishing time.)

    (...)

    (. . .)

    (. . .)

    (You didn't catch anything.)

    (That's too bad.)

    Second time

    (Alright. This time for sure.)

(You take the fishing pole, find the same lure you used before, check the fishing pole, throw it, and sit down and wait.)

    (Fishing time.)

    (...)

    (. . .)

    (. . .)

    (You didn't catch anything.)

(How did you manage to mess it up a second time?!)

    Third time

    (Alright.)

    (Fishing time.)

    (...)

    (. . .)

    (. . .)

    (You didn't catch anything.)

    (Really?!?)

(Well. Not like that was surprising.)

    Fourth time

    (Alright.)

    (Fishing time.)

    (...)

    (. . .)

    (. . .)

    (You didn't catch anything.)

(But it was restful, to sit here and let your mind wander for a little bit.)

    Fifth time

(Somehow, even though you probably won't catch anything...)

    (Fishing calms you down.)

    (You feel at peace.)

    (...)

    (. . .)

    (. . .)

(...Once again, you didn't catch anything, but you're fine with it.)

(You feel like you got the chance to put your thoughts in order.)

(You got a MEMORY OF FISHING!)

    (You'll always remember this.)

[When equipped, Memory of Fishing gives you +2 ATTACK for every time you've gone fishing! At the cost of ATTACK SPEED, though. Can't have everything, stardust.]

    Sixth to ninth times

(You do the usual fishing preparations, and sit down.)

(You haven't gone fishing for long, but it already feels like something you've done forever.)

    (...)

    (. . .)

    (. . .)

(...Once again, you didn't catch anything.)

    At random:

    (But it was restful.)

    (But it's fine.)

    (But you got stronger.)

    Tenth time

    Fishing One No fish, huh?

    (You jump.)

    (They speak?!?)

    Fishing One Heheheee...

Fishing One You just started fishing with such confidence, and yet you do not even look a little bit disappointed at not catching anything.

Fishing One So you must've guessed.

Siffrin (siiiiigh1) (Urgh...) "That there's no fish in this river? Yeah, I noticed.

Fishing One Heheheee... Sorry. I'm surprised you noticed.

Fishing One This river used to be plentiful, a few months ago.

Fishing One And then, I noticed I was catching less and less fish...

Fishing One Of course, this coincided with the arrival of the King.

Fishing One My guess is that the King's Curse froze people, yes...

Fishing One But it froze rivers, and the fish inside it, too.

Fishing One The fish upstream of Dormont must all be frozen in time by now.

Fishing One We also have less bugs than usual, less birds than usual. Our ecosystem is dying slowly.

Fishing One So even if our village was somehow left untouched by the Curse forever, we would all starve to death eventually.

    Fishing One . . .

Fishing One I hope you manage to beat the King tomorrow, so the river fish come back.

    (...)

    Eleventh time onwards

(You know nothing will bite, and yet, you fish.)

    (...)

    (. . .)

    (. . .)

(...Once again, you didn't catch anything.)

    At random:

    (But it was restful.)

    (But it's fine.)

    (But you got stronger.)

    40th time onwards

(You can't get stronger than this, though.)

    Fishing One Heheheeee...

Catching fish. 1 in 10 chance after your tenth time fishing, but only occurs once.

(You know nothing will bite, and yet, you fish.)

    (...)

    (. . .)

    (. . .)

    Something splashes.

(Something is tugging on your line.)

    (What?)

    Siffrin (surprised2) (OH STARS) "FISH"

The battle music plays, faster and in a higher pitch.

    Fishing One FISH?!?!

Fishing One REEL IT IN, QUICK!!!

(You both struggle to reel in a fish you had no idea would come, but after a while--)

    The music stops.

    (You got A FISH!!!!!!!!!!)

(It's alive, still flapping its gills uselessly.)

Fishing One Oh crab... You... You actually caught something...

    Fishing One In this river...?

    Fishing One . . .

(You both look at the fish.)

(It's pitifully trying to survive, trying to breathe in air.)

    (. . .)

    A splash.

(You throw the fish back in the water.)

(You both look as the fish swims away downstream.)

    Fishing One . . .

    Fishing One Interesting, heheheee...

    Fishing One Thank you.

    (You nod.)

    Fishing One ...Good luck, tomorrow.

(You nod again, and walk away.)

  • "Maybe later."

Fishing One Of course. Come back whenever.

During Loopquest

(You need to ask...)

Fishing One ...Hm? What I asked the Favor Tree?

Fishing One Heheheee... I asked for Vaugarde to be saved, so I can catch some more fish.

Repeated interaction. Identical in ACT 5

Fishing One Heheheee...

ACT 5

Fishing One Heheheee... I am fishing.

Fishing One You look like someone who would like fishing.

Fishing One Would you like to fish for a little bit?

Fishing One You look upset... It might calm you down. Heheheee...

(You're fine.)

(You walk away.)

Locked House

(The door seems to be locked.)

If you haven't learned about openphrases

(Interesting... You didn't think a welcoming village like Dormont knew how to lock doors.)

(The lock keeping it closed has an interesting shape... It doesn't have a hole for a key.)

Text ends.

Any already learned openphrase can be used on this door for the same result.

(It's locked by one of those weird locks.)

(You need to know the openphrase to be able to open it...)

(...)

  • (Say: "Change".)

    (...)

    (Nothing happens.)

  • (Say: "Stostorage roomoom".)

Available after asking the shopkeeper for the storage room's openphrase.

    (...)

    (Nothing happens.)

  • (Say: "Openphrase123)

Available if you've gotten the openphrase from the right side dead end room on Floor 3.

    (...)

    (Nothing happens.)

  • (Leave the door alone.)

    (You leave the door alone.)

After using all three openphrases in the same loop.

Locked One ...Stop.

(...?)

Locked One STOP!!! STOP TRYING TO UNLOCK MY DOOR!!! STOP BOTHERING ME!!!

Locked One I don't want you to come inside! I don't want you to talk to me!

Locked One I don't know who you are! You could be with someone dangerous, or you could be with the King, or...

Locked One I-I'm not like the rest of the village!!! Acting like nothing's wrong, and planning a party knowing we might all die!!!

Locked One I don't want to be frozen!!! If I lock myself in, I'll be safe!!! So I'll stay in here!!! So no one can hurt me!!!

Locked One SO GO AWAY!!!!!!!

(. . .)

(The King's Curse doesn't care about locks.)

(You decide to leave them alone.)

After the Locked One yells at Siffrin

(...)

Path to the Favor Tree

If you aren't blocked from the Favor Tree for any reason, you pass through without comment. For Favor Tree text, see its story events page or Loop's section.

ACT 1

(Isabeau is probably at the tree.)

(You shouldn't bother him...)

Both of these lines will play as appropiate.

Before talking to Odile and Bonnie

(Better talk to Odile and Bonnie first.)

Before checking the Change God statue

(You also need to check the Change God's statue... Just so you can tell Mirabelle you did it.)

After Kingquest, before checking on Bonnie

(You need to see if Bonnie is okay.)

ACT 5, before talking to all party members

(Not yet.)

Path to Dormont North

You're only blocked from Dormont North on the same loop as the Bad Touch event, otherwise you pass through without comment. For Dormont North text, see its main page.

(Isabeau's up ahead.)

Running One

Running One Oof, look at you! So scrawny!

Running One Scrawny one, did you know you can press [button] to run? You should give it a try sometime!

Running One Oh! And did you know you can turn ON "Always Run" in your Options menu? So you can run all the time?

Running One Did you know? Did you know about this? Did you know pressing [button] makes you run? Did you know you can run all the time by going into the Options menu? Do you run? DO YOU LIKE RUNNING?

Second time

(You knew this already, but you suppose it doesn't hurt to get a refresher.)

ACT 1 & 2

Siffrin (okay1)

ACT 3 & 4

Siffrin (okay1)

  • "More of a lazy, take it easy type."

    Running One DISGUSTING.

Running One So you need to BUILD UP THOSE MUSCLES! GET FAST! GET SWOLE! AND PRESS [button] TO RUN!!!!!

    ACT 3 & 4

    (...)

  • "I knew about this, yes!" Available second time onwards

    Running One Good, good!

Running One But you should do more figurative running, and less metaphorical running!

Running One What I mean is, you like to run from your problems! I can see it in your face! But you need to learn to face your problems head-on, scrawny one!

    ACT 2

Siffrin (okay2) (Okay you need to go.)

    ACT 3

    Siffrin (fake2) (...)

    ACT 4

    Siffrin (fake4) (...)

    • "I will now figuratively and metaphorically run from this situation." ACT 2 & 3

Running One Wise, very wise! Goodbye, scrawny one!

    • "Maybe you should shut up." ACT 3 & 4

Running One What? Sorry, the sound of my feet hitting the ground made it impossible for me to hear you just now!

Running One Oh, I see you walk away! Going to run a bit, huh? I understand! I will also run around! Goodbye!

  • "I've been running a lot." Available after 20+ loops

Running One I'm glad...! Running is very important.

Running One You can finish things faster. You can build up your endurance. You can avoid your problems. You can escape when a sadness runs after you.

    ACT 2

    Siffrin (sad2) (Oh?)

    ACT 4 & 4

    Siffrin (hide2) (Oh?)

    • "I do all those things!"

      Running One As you should!!!

Running One I'm glad I have found a like-minded person today. Best of luck running in the House tomorrow!

    • "...Everything okay?"

      Running One ...

Running One My kid sibling didn't know how to run very fast.

Running One I'm pretty fast, but... not everyone is.

      Running One ...

Running One So don't be afraid to use [button] to run, okay??? We're all counting on you!!!

During Loopquest

(You need to ask...)

Running One Huh? If I asked the Favor Tree for anything?

Running One I asked for Vaugarde to be saved, of course!

Running One What an interesting question! The Head Housemaiden asked me the same thing, before the House fell!

Repeated interaction. Identical in ACT 5

(They mutter "run run run run run run run" repeatedly under their breath.)

ACT 5

Running One Oof, look at you! So scrawny!

Running One Scrawny one, did you know you can press [button] to run? You should give it a try sometime!

Running One Oh! And did you know you can turn ON "Always Run" in your Options menu? So you can run all the time?

Running One Did you know? Did you know about this? Did you know pressing [button] makes you run? Did you know you can run all the time by going into the Options menu? Do you run? DO YOU LIKE RUNNING?

Siffrin (TS_dismissive2) "Yes, I KNOW."

Running One Oof, someone woke up cranky from their nap!

Running One It's okay! Running is a great way to wake yourself up!

(You run away.)

Running One See? Hope you wake up soon! Good luck!!!

(The sign says: "East Dormont, Clocktower".)

To the Favor Tree

(The sign says: "Favor Tree".)

Outside the shop

(The sign says: "Shop".)

Outside the library

(The sign says: "Library".)

Smug One

Smug One Oh, hey, traveler.

Smug One You're not from Vaugarde, are you? That's the rumor, at least.

Smug One I'm from Poteria myself. I came to Vaugarde to further my studies, a few months ago.

First time

(Poteria, huh?)

Second time

(You've talked to them before.)

(Hm...)

(Well, you've been to Poteria once, so...)

ACT 1 & 2

Siffrin (smiling3)

ACT 3 & 4

Siffrin (fake1)

  • "How are you liking Vaugarde?"

Smug One It's nice, right? Lots of scholars, good food, welcoming people.

Smug One Especially their Houses of Change. They let everyone in, and aren't shy about sharing their knowledge, even if you don't follow their belief.

Smug One It's strange, right? I've traveled a lot, but I've never been to a country with such welcoming people. I could move here, to be honest.

Smug One ...Well, it's a little awkward right now, with the King. I might actually be forced to move here. Permanently.

Smug One ...I should pick a good spot to be frozen in...

Smug One Ah, not that I think you won't win tomorrow, of course. I have faith you'll win, of course.

    ACT 1 & 2

    (...)

    (Vaugarde IS very welcoming.)

(People always notice you're not from here, but they're more likely to ask if you'd like to stay at their home for a bit than anything else.)

    ACT 3

    (...)

    (Vaugarde IS very welcoming.)

(You wish they'd stop mentioning you're clearly out of place, though.)

    After finishing Kingquest

    (...)

    (Vaugarde IS very welcoming.)

(That's why the King wants to freeze it in time forever.)

    (Rewarding kindness with death.)

  • "I've been to Poteria once." Available second time onwards

Smug One Ah, is that so? How did you like it?

    ACT 1 & 2

    Siffrin (smiling3)

    ACT 3 & 4

    Siffrin (fake1)

    "Very good plays!"

Smug One A fellow theater fan...

    Smug One Nice.

    ACT 2

(You give each other a nod, as fellow theater fans do.)

    ACT 3 & 4

(You give each other a nod, as fellow actors.)

(Does it matter if one of you isn't aware of it?)

During Loopquest

(You need to ask...)

Smug One ...The Favor Tree?

Smug One I asked to be able to go back to Poteria soon.

Smug One ...

Repeated interaction

Smug One Good luck, from one traveler to another.

ACT 5

Smug One Oh, hey, traveler.

Smug One I'm from Poteria. I came to Vaugarde to further my studies, a few months ago.

Smug One And you, uh...

Smug One You must be from the frowny face country, huh? Haha...

(You clench your fists, and force yourself to walk away.)

Repeated interaction

Smug One ...That was so rude... Why did I say that...
